Everything started back in 1856 when a 21 year old boy named Thomas Burberry opened an outfitters shop in Hampshire, England. Just 10 years later the shop had grown into an emporium. Burberry: The Art of Trench
Burberry is considered as the most luxury brand for outerwear items. Especially in the case of the trench coat as it is a classic of the Burberry brand. A lot of designers imitate it, but the Burberry one is unique. Classic in many films as it was worn by Humphrey Bogart in Casablanca, Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's, and by Peter Sellers in the Pink Panther films. It cannot get more classic than that. The company's clientele has included Winston Churchill (wearing a trench coat on almost every public appearance), Gary Cooper, Joan Crawford, George Bernard Shaw, Al Jolson, Peter Falk, Ronald Reagan, Norman Schwarzkopf, and Paul Newman.
